We got a free kitchenaid stand mixer on BN and had to re-grease it and the hardest part was getting the pin out to access the inside. Other than that it was easy peasy. We’ve used it at least once a week since we got it. I hope it goes the same for you!
What the heck is “top is in”?
It refers to market timing. Basically, they think that we are at the ceiling of the upswing of the market and that’s where you should sell. So if you think the top is in, you should sell your stocks and move over the bonds or cash. And then the market will fall, and then you’ll buy at the bottom. This of course is generally impossible to predict, and it’s Pretty much nonsense to try to time the market like that, but that’s what it’s in reference to.
Ooh, so by “in” it kind of means “we’ve arrived at this point”? Thanks!
Exactly! I think of it as “the top has arrived”. Referencing the idea of a “market top”.
And the top has been “in” for like 3 years of new all-time high after high, lol
Does anyone have a killer thumbprint cookie recipe? I am looking online also. This will solve my jam problem.
I just use a sugar cookie recipe (usually Alton Brown’s, but I add vanilla). I love jam thumbprint cookies! So tasty.
Ok so theoretically, if I were to use that recipe, how much vanilla would I add and how big of a scoop of dough per cookie and what time and temp in the oven? Asking for a friend.
Theoretically - I add
About 1 teaspoon of vanilla (likely erring on the side of a little more)
Scoop dough about the size of a ping pong ball (tending a bit smaller), form into ball (optionally flatten a little into a patty), make indentation, fill with jam/jelly
Bake at 375F (as per recipe) on a parchment lined cookie sheet 10-12 minutes. They don’t spread much, so a lot will fit on the pan. Move to rack to cool.
I am guessing at the time. I like my cookies with a bit of color, so I bake a bit longer than usually called for. They will keep baking a bit more on the pan. I adjust baking time as needed during the process.
The jam cooks down a bit and gets a little chewy. The cookie is buttery - nom!
Perfect. Theoretically.
Hopefully not:
“Another beautiful theory killed by ugly fact}
I mean, I could probably guestimate and it turn out fine, but it is definitely easier to have a starting point!
These sound yummy! Can I use the strawberry freezer jam I made?
Any jam should work. The jam may bubble a bit in the oven, but collapses when you take the cookies out.
I don’t have mine here, but I wanted to note that if you have a favorite peanut butter color recipe… that can make an excellent jam thumbprint.
Veganomicon has a chocolate raspberry jam cookie recipe that works with any jam an that I could theoretically take a picture of. They come out very brownie like. Moist and amazing

Those of you who have housecleaners, how do you deal with pets when a person who doesn’t know your pets comes into your home? I’m probably not getting a cleaner, but I do fantasize about having it done 2x/year someday.

If I have an LLC & pay quarterly taxes on it and have no other income am I supposed to do regular human taxes in April too? How’s that work?
Yes, the April tax process is to tell the gov how much you made, and how much you’ve already paid in taxes. Instead of entering a W2 with that information, you’ll enter how much you’ve paid through quarterlies in total for 2019. Then, after deducting all your biz expenses, other credits, etc., you calculate how much of a refund/payment is due.
Someone suggested VITA above, and if you have less than $56,000 in income you may be able to use it (it’s a free tax prep service, you take all your papers and show up and someone else does your taxes for you). At my site, we have people trained in self-employment taxes so it would be fine, but you might want to call your local sites to make sure it won’t be a problem.
