That’s about the same for me as well. Eggs are one thing that I will pay more for to know the chickens aren’t in horrific conditions.

Yeah I always think of $5-7/doz as the going rate for “hippy eggs” which is all we buy :stuck_out_tongue: but I see them as cheap as $2/doz for factory farmed ones which blows me away!

This all makes sense now. I thought you meant the regular grocery store type eggs and I was shocked at the price difference.

In what kind of temperature? Any sun that might have made the car extra hot?

I personally wouldn’t unless temps were pretty cool because any washed egg is potentially contaminated, and salmonella grows fast above 45 and there’s no reliable way to visually tell. Now, an unwashed egg? That would be totally fine unless it had been like 90+

Float test only checks age of an egg, because of measuring how much of the white has evaporated through the shell.

I feel like I’ve been lied to my whole life.

It’s still a good test. If the egg is unwashed and has been out at room temperature or cooler, you still don’t want to eat an egg that float. If an egg is washed and has been refrigerated and floats, also don’t want to eat.

Need some help. Pretty sure I clicked on a phishing email on my phone. I got a form submission through my website from what appeared to be an irate photographer saying I was illegally using her copyrighted images (my site is full of photos I had taken by MY photographer of MY designs, so no) but my blog has a few images that I thought I credited or linked appropriately so when she included a link to the images in question I clicked on it. It was supposedly a google drive link but when I did it it went to a blank page and I closed it.

I never input any info or anything like that. Do I need to be concerned? I’m worried since it was a google drive link that it signed into my google account or something automatically.

If you change your password it auto sign outs all devices. Might be worth it for peace of mind of nothing else.

I know that this forum is well-equipped to answer this question: I need a good black ink pen, preferably not too expensive.

@anomalily @LadyDuck and others!

What kind of pen? Ball point, gel, felt, permanent, fountain?
Fine line or medium or other?

Oh dear. I am not really sure, I just use normal cheap pens. I think fine line and ball point.

I really like the Pilot G2 pens. They’re gel, but at least for me aren’t smear-y. They’re not too expensive, easy to find, write nicely, and are refillable. Normally, I like a 0.5 pen, but I find the G2 version a little scratchy so get the 0.7 and feel like it writes a little thinner than a 0.7 usually does.

Hahaha. I’m in Portland, so no, we haven’t had any sun whatsoever in over a week.

Thanks everyone! We put one egg into cornbread, so it was cooked to the max, and everything is fine. Might toss them once we’re able to do another grocery pickup, just to be safe.

I wish I had seen this two weeks ago. I got the 0.5 and they’re a bit scratchy. Normally I like 0.5. Sigh. But yeah, I’m by no means a pen snob (I took notes with a bic all through college) but I like these pens. Just wish I’d gotten the 0.7!

Eta also had no idea they’re refillable. How does that work?

Do you have a neighbor with dogs or anything like that? Eggs are fantastic for their coats, and their guts are generally a bit more hearty than ours if they’re not young/old/compromised.

I was thinking of Pilot too. Overall for mass market writing instruments they have good quality for the price. You can also get refills for the G2 (One I have just ran out of ink so I just looked this up).

Our neighbor has a new dog, but he doesn’t seem like the type to want leftover outdoor eggs.

Gel pens are super smeary for me (perhaps lefty issues?) but I got a big pack of Zebra Z-grip 1.0 ballpoint pens at Costco (40 for $9) and they’re incredibly smooth. Much nicer than the older stainless Zebras I used to use in high school.
