I would think it’s fine if you don’t squish them to fit in the bin and fold them loosely? But I’m no expert.
Maybe one of those vacuum bag things? You can put them all in one and squeeze them in a tiny part of the closet? Maybe?
As long as you’re not totally compressing the down, it would be okay. I have, ummm, too many sleeping bags and backpacks and those sort of things and I had to find creative ways to store them in my apartment. Do you have any sort of wall area in your closets that is blank and under utilized? I took a bunch of those white plastic hooks with the sticky command strips and stuck them around. My sleeping bags go in the big storage bags they came with and hang up near the ceiling. You could put all your jackets in a loose bag and do the same.
Unfortunately I have a sliding door closet that is really shallow, so no wall space available. But, I don’t know why I didn’t think about big loose bags? I have 3 down sleeping bags that I keep in the giant bags they come in…duh…a coat is basically the same thing haha. I’ll just have to shove them under the bed. My room is tiny+no room for a dresser or shelves or anything because of these really terrible built in things that take up all the wall space but provide no actual storage. I am really jealous of your closet wall space! haha
I mean, shoving them under the bed should work just fine. But if you don’t care, don’t feel confined by needing to keep things in closets. Throw some hooks up anywhere and everywhere and hang stuff all over!
I really need to just give in and hang hooks up all around my room. It’s not like I have guests over, I’m not really sure why I care? It would be nice to have things off the floor, especially with the scorpion issues I have in this location
I am pro reducing indoor scorpion habitat.
Not sure if they’re available as pets or just adorable zoo creatures, but dwarf mongooses are immune to scorpion venom and hunt them in the wild.
How is AQI inside a car when it’s awful outside? Is it mostly the same as being outside? Is it halfway to being inside?
Let’s say you can use a cabin recirculate setting in the air’s temp/enviro controls.
In my car it’s noticeably better but I haven’t measured. My car is also tiny and a very quiet cabin and electric so might not be a good example.
Most cars nowadays have a cabin air filter but I don’t know how much of a difference it makes
This article doesn’t go into a lot of detail but suggests that it’s better inside cars with recirculated air although they suggest cracking the windows if it’s going to be a long time to prevent too much CO2 buildup: https://laist.com/2020/09/07/how_to_keep_yourself_safe_from_wildfire_smoke_1.php
It’s a charcoal filter for the cabin, so it’ll help with large particles a lot but less so PM2.5. Smell will be substantially less, health effects may not differ substantially.
Any graphic designers who can recommend good resources for a dilettante? I stumbled on Graphic Design: The New Basics through Skillshare, but curious what better options might be out there.
Also, free layout program? I don’t want to pay for InDesign, since this for a passing hobby. I have PS Elements 12, not sure if that’s useful at all.
I’ve heard that Scribus is the best open source, free InDesign-type software, sort of on par as Gimp is to Photoshop and Inkscape is to Illustrator. I’ve never used it though (unlike Gimp and Inkscape, which are excellent), so I can’t say from experience. I’ve also heard some people say it’s hard to use, but it’s possible these people were actually not that familiar with doing graphic design and layout and such, so I don’t know. I’m a pretty big proponent of open source, though, so I’d give it a try anyway…
Thanks!
Does anyone have gift/toy/entertainment ideas for a 5yo with autism? I’m just getting to know him. Not very verbal but likes lists of things like months. Agile like a cat. Likes the alphabet, sorting things. Is very smart but doesn’t see the point in showing off the smart so unknown how much he can read. May like drawing. Spends a lot of time on a tablet.
A jar of interesting different buttons to sort and admire
A collection of low denomination coins from around the world
A real fossil or an insect in amber
A spirograph
Does the USA not use standard paper sized notebooks, A4, A5, B6 ect?
8.5” x 11” is our most common size. I’ve needed A4 on occasion but I don’t think many Americans even know about A4 etc.
