I have been tossing around the idea of getting a Master’s degree, because my company will reimburse school every year to the IRS limit. The degree has to be something…relevant, so of course I could get an MBA, that seems like the obvious choice. But, ugh…I don’t really care to study business…is it really that useful to have an MBA? Like will it really further my career/give me more options? I have never been a career oriented person…like, I want a stable job that pays the bills, but my life passions lie outside of my work and that will probably always be the case. I’m more interested in learning about people, human behavior, learning styles, etc…and there is another Masters I could get that is in Human Relations, and my boss has approved that as an option. But, I question whether it will be as useful to my career as an MBA. I don’t need to love what I’m studying, if it’s a free Master’s degree I will get whatever will help my career the most…but I’m not 100% convinced on an MBA.

Getting the degree could boost your base pay (due to increased education, etc.).

I did go back and get an MBA (BS in Biology) and I found it really interesting. It was an Executive MBA (I talked my boss into the benefits even though I was not climbing any ladder - well not climbing up anyway). So I loved going back to school and learning. I did not leverage the degree for any big career jump, but I think it did give my salary a small boost, and it impressed others.

I wish I thought the degree would boost my base pay, but probably not at my company, unless I moved into a new role. I do think it would make me eligible for higher positions, management, etc. Like you I love learning and being in school, so honestly even if it did nothing for my career I’d probably get a Masters anyway, since it’s being paid for. I just can’t decide between the MBA or Human Relations (which sounds way more interesting since it’s all about people and communication styles) I guess if I don’t care how it affects my career I should just get the one that sounds more fun!

There should be curriculum listings. Also check out reviews of the professors and check their publications. Visit each program, if you can.

Is there a way to put a library book, that is only available through overdrive as an EPUB, onto my kindle reader?

I feel like I’ve done this before, but it was years and years ago. I would just chat up amazon kindle support. I know they helped me out when I had a weird question of things randomly disappearing off my account.

ETA: I think I had to email it to my kindle? Another option is to convert it to pdf or mobi format, but I don’t know if you can do that with library books.

Calibre. With a plug in. But if it disables auto return you should make sure you are an honest citizen

I spilled salmon oil (doggo supplement) inside a cloth bag. It’s a simple bag but I’m fond of it and use it all the time, and now I’m sad because it REEKS of salmon.

How do I get the smell out? Soaking in vinegar didn’t help, although maybe I did it wrong or didn’t use enough.

Not an expert! But as it’s oil, I would use dish soap like Dawn, “tough on grease” stuff. May not help with staining, but I feel like it should help get the oil and smell out.

I was thinking Dawn, too. Regular blue Dawn and maybe a scrub brush if you have one. Then you could try oxiclean or similar for staining.

Sunshine! Clean it with soap and then lay it in the sun to dry once you feel the stain is clean enough. It might fade it a bit because sun is powerful, but that power helps with smells too.

I sun Bobbin’s cloth diapers and it works wonders for stains and smells, I’m always shocked.

Thank you! I’ll try all of these in sequence…

Dish soap then oxyclean then sunshine is a VERY good thing to learn pre baby… :grimacing:

I recommend the “baby” oxyclean since it’s unscented.

The spa treatment for my cloth bag worked! After the Dawn (actually Palmolive which we had lying around) + oxiclean soaks, the water was very orange (the color of the oil) which was pretty promising. After drying in the sun all day, the smell is 99% gone. I just did one last dish soap soak which was much lighter orange so hopefully that nails the smell for good. Thanks everyone.

Best resources for preparing to adopt, adopting, and training cats, especially kittens?

If you’re after books, try Pam Johnson-Bennett for the foundational/behavior advice (the revised Think Like A Cat is probably the newest general interest from her, Cat vs Cat covers multi-cat issues in more depth) and Jackson Galaxy’s books on creating environments (Catification, Catify to Satisfy, maybe Total Cat Mojo too). They also both had TV shows (Pyscho Kitty, My Cat from Hell respectively) if you don’t mind the reality drama angle as there is useful info in them.

I adopted a 5 month old with no training on my part and never having had a cat before. Maybe not the proper way to go about things. Lol. Turned out wonderfully though, so maybe I got lucky.

Okay, I know I should have done this immediately when we moved states, but for some reason it’s a Task that my brain has decided counts for HARDCORE EXECUTIVE FUNCTION and I’m incapable of doing :woman_facepalming: So please don’t judge me.

How do I deal with moving states? Changing my residency and voting stuff and all? How do I make sure it happens right before the election? Especially since both my state I’m from (OR) and moved to (WA) do vote by mail?

Help. I don’t even know where to start. My mail forwarding is set up, that’s the only thing I’ve done.

You’ll need to register to vote in WA at least 30 days before the first election that you’ll vote in. If you’re getting your mail forwarded, you may still receive an OR ballot, but do not fill it out if you’re voting in WA.
