Omg it’s getting worse.
I have never seen such camerawork on a professional film. Even when it’s just panning across a scene, presumably on a tripod, it wobbles badly.
I’m very sad that I only found this thread tonight. But I want you to know I have been doing my part, just, umm, unknowingly.
I have watched:
Love Hard-- fairly cute
A Castle For Christmas-- made me miss The Knight Before Christmas, like, a lot
Single All the Way-- love
A California Christmas: City Lights-- well, terrible, really, like the first one, but some of it is charming
And not on the list but watched this Christmas movie season:
-Home Alone (I know it’s not a romance but Son LOVES this movie so we have to watch it a lot.
-Love Actually (I know it’s problematic but I still manage to enjoy it. It and The Holiday are kind of my favorites and I watch them both every Christmas. I think Daughter is old enough to share The Holiday with so I’m excited about that.)
-Klaus-- very cute, and it there is a romance!
I feel like I did better last Christmas. I watched so many. I needed this challenge this year to keep on top of important business.
I have previously watched both Princess Switches so I’m excited for number 3! I will probably watch it tomorrow. I’m very interested in How To Ruin Christmas and A Naija Christmas. And this movie because it has a very good name: Robin Robin
OK, I have watched Princess Switch 3, Romancing the Star. I found it delightful overall, and I think maybe it’s my favorite of the three switch movies. Fiona is more compelling than the other goody-goody Vanessas, and her love interest is, too.
I wanted to watch love actually last night. Partner was skeptical, I thought because he didn’t like it. Nope, it took 45 seconds for him to be riveted. I did not expect the pure joy of watching him watch it for the first time. So I am probably devoting the rest of 2021 to remedial Christmas movie watching
I’m sorry, I can’t. I went to hit play on another holiday film that i know will be terrible… and I just can’t.
Am I done with the genre for the year, or just need a night off? Let’s find out!
We tried to watch National Lampoon: Christmas Vacation after everyone at CrossFit was talking about how it was their favorite Christmas movie ever, but we only made it halfway through. My theory is that if you first watch it when you’re 8-12, it’s hilarious and the memories stick with you. Otherwise it’s boring and not funny.
there are only a few christmas movies that truly stand the test of time for me – “white christmas” and “the grinch” and “elf” and maybe a few more i cant think of right now. most are decidedly not classics
Holiday Inn is my favorite Christmas movie, I guess it’s an all seasons movie, but it’s what the song “White Christmas” originated in. The movie has an incredibly offensive scene in it though
A few years ago I saw the Broadway musical, and they removed that scene and replaced it with a new song that was extremely fun (tap dancing while jumping rope!).
Not sure if I’ll pass on Holiday Inn to my kids due to that scene, but it holds a special place in my heart. And I hope I can see the musical again!
