YES! I love visiting stores when traveling.
Same. My mom cultivated this hobby in me young…we used to go grocery shopping together “for fun” all the time starting at like 6 years old. Anytime she went without me I would get so bummed. Now as an adult it’s one of the only times I leave the house since I work from home, so I really soak it all in and wander up and down every aisle looking for new things, haha
You guys are making me want an air fryer. I do NOT need another appliance to pack and move!
Forgot about TJ’s peppers. I use them up. Last time I was there tho, they didn’t have any more, so I guess the frozen medley is seasonal?
No, they’ve just had big supply chain issues
House warming gift to yourself for after you find your permeant place? Just bookmark it for now
Expecting current AllHat to talk you out of buying an air fryer is like expecting 20 year old AllHat to talk you out of sneaking a 40 into a movie theatre. Ain’t going to happen.
Peas used to have the largest price spread between fresh and frozen of any veg, acc. to an old USDA document I found. God knows if that’s still the same. When I found that “factoid,” I started buying organic and making British peapod soup so I wouldn’t just throw out something so pricey.
Haha I just texted you the package of shahs seasoning. All of their packets have the health benefits of takeout. And the mouth benefits and come together super fast.
Pasta and jarred sauce, almost always doctored
Corn tortillas
Frozen burritos
Buffalo cauliflower
Veggie sausages
Frozen veggies
Instant Mac n cheese
Salsa
Tiny cans of pizza sauce
Baked beans
Gf bread
Store bought hummus and dips
Frozen fries
Bagged salads
Canned beans - I like homemade better but I’m not doing it
Ikea balls
I go off and on for all of these
I, too, love grocery shopping. Unfortunately it’s not very safe to do it here right now. So much Covid. We create a meal plan based on what’s in the house. Then we create a grocery list of what we need. We go to the least busy store at the least busy time of day, seek out only what we need and get the h*ll outta there and back home before we catch anything. We both have co-morbidities that would make Covid difficult.

I’ve decided I want to phase out processed dry cereals, like cheerios, from my diet. Has anyone done this? How? What do you eat for breakfast instead? I’m doing this for a few reasons: they are not filling, they have a lot of sugar in them, and they are expensive.
I need quick ideas, as I often have less than half an hour to prepare and eat breakfast before heading out the door to meet my walking buddy.
I used to eat a lot of cereal growing up and in college. Now I mostly go for eggs (egg bites are great and not hard to make), smoothies, or a cheese stick and fruit. Do you have any allergies or other food restrictions?
Every day I have two scrambled eggs, a sausage patty, and sometimes some fruit (an orange is common, or an apple. Just depends on what I’m feeding my toddler). Does wonders for my blood sugar.
ETA I grew up eating a lot of cereal, like every other 90s kid lol. (Please note I mean GREW UP in the 90s, not was born in the 90s…)
I have quick oats with milk, let them sit for a minute to soak, mix in some dried fruit, sliced almonds, fresh fruit, that sort of thing, maybe some yoghurt.
What’s wrong with being born in the 90s?!?!?!?!! 🥸
Nothing, my back just hurts way too bad today to consider being lumped in with you whipper snappers right now
I make a weeks worth of oatmeal at once, and portion it out into containers. Then grab+ microwave and breakfast in 2 min. I cook it with raisins, and then I add either plain greek yogurt on top for protein, or stir in PB powder, or regular peanut butter, etc.
If I don’t have oatmeal, I have an Aidell’s chicken+apple sausage (I get a big pack at Costco) and fruit, or leftover roasted veggies. I actually love eating leftovers for breakfast, but not everyone is a savory breakfast person.
@mountainmustache29 , are you making steel cut oats then? And are they the same as old fashioned oats?
Def not the same! Bad mistake to make on a rushed morning lol.

Steel cut is delicious, but takes way longer to cook.
I just make thick cut rolled oats. I like the texture better than steel-cut. I cook 2 cups in 5 cups of water and it takes about 10-15 min on Sunday night. (or if I’m really behind in life, I make it on Monday morning while I’m “working” haha)
My mom used to make steel cut oats in the crockpot overnight, and I think you could also do it in the instant pot really fast too!
