100% agreed on the manicure. the few times i’ve gotten one, i had to grit my teeth the entire time. pedicures are even worse!

I hate pedicures. I also get ingrown nails from them like 50%+ of the time so I’m sure that’s a factor. It’s weird though- I like foot rubs, so it’s not that I hate people touching my feet necessarily. But the picking/poking/chopping I could do without

exactly. when they put the hot cloths on and let you sit there alone for a while, perfect. but keep the pointy metal objects away from me, please
i do love the way my feet look after a pedi, but i determined that it’s not worth sitting there grimacing for an hour. plus i got an infection from one a little more than a year ago. i mean, she nicked me, and then i went to the community garden in sandals and got my feet all dirty, so it wasn’t all her fault, but still!

I have had two manicures in my life. The first was at this amazing spa where they didn’t poke or prod - a gentle push back of the cuticle but no trimming cuticle or scraping or filing the nail bed. It was one of the most pleasurable experiences of my life. Mani/pedi was like an hour total and if I’d lived there I would have gone regularly.
The second was the standard “abuse your hands into performing femininity” and it was not one of the most pleasurable experiences. Thank God it was 15 minutes.
