I was literally thinking this last night

I want to be sad and eat soup and bake bread. It is entirely too hot to do either of those things right now, so idkkk what else to do while being sad until it gets cold again.

I made bread today on the Front Range in CO and it was a TERRIBLE plan. SO HOT. And it went all flat in the oven because the yeast was too active because it was too hot. So yes, bring on autumn.

Signed,

99 degrees for 4 days in a row is disgusting

I saw it was so hot on the Front Range the past few days!! I have never seen these temps this late in the summer in CO. It has been 91 here a little higher in the mountains, and even that has been miserable since we don’t have AC. The late afternoons, and first few hours of trying to sleep have sucked. I made the mistake of turning on the oven the other day and really regretted it…I think the house was heated from it for like 24 hours, haha.

Gazpacho with tortilla chips is the answer

ugh, I wish I liked gazpacho!! I do like other soups cold…I guess I could just make some minestrone and then eat it cold later! Haha.

Nope nope nope. I am not looking forward to my heating bill when I have to spend all day at home everyday. Our first floor has way too many windows and doors to heat decently in the winter. I want to wear skimpy maxi dresses and tank tops for work forever.

I made bruschetta with my sad flat bread and some delicious black krim tomatoes from my garden, and it made me feel better

What if you make it a little chunky? That way it’s more like pico.

The mention of flat bread here reminded me I meant to make olive tapenade the other day. Anyone have a good recipe for pita? I am a rather mediocre baker. Should I just resign myself to purchasing some?
