We may have to bail on a planned trip to Austin because of a bathroom bill that would incentivize harassing wife. Wife is a cis lady and uses the women’s bathroom, what more do they want! (I mean I know, it’s just dumb and a waste of time)

I was just listening to the Ooligies episode on candy and a lot of people wrote in about sour candies and how it helps them reset their brains sometimes. Not being a fan of sour candy I never knew. Makes sense that super crunchy chips can do the same thing.

For a while around 4, Latte was having intractable meltdowns. Like, she’d start scream crying and just not. Stop. And she’d get violent when we tried to do anything about it (usually around the 15-20 min mark when it was clear it just wasn’t ending). You know what we finally did? Gave her sour watermelon candies. It would end the episode and wonderfully didn’t lead to an increase of them, and she got over the issue shortly after that. Team sour candy brain reset right here.

Oh and the idea came about because I hold or suck on ice cubes if I feel a panic attack coming on. Pretty damn effective but she wouldn’t try the ice :joy:

We have found that sour candy works better than coffee/caffeine to stay alert on long drives. Rips are our favorite, but haribo gummies or sour patch kids or whatever the gas station has in a pinch.

As a kid, my mom prescribed sour candy for nausea/motion sickness.

Sour candy is great.

I saw an OT talk about using it to help kids regulate: The Sensory Project on Instagram: "One of my go to sensory strategies is sour spray! It’s helpful before meals, as a replacement when chewing nonedible items, as a special treat and way to connect. I give all of the kids in my sensory class @kinesthetic.kids a few squirts after class and they live for this! Sour spray is such a simple way to meet a high sensory threshold in a positive way. I’ve used this trick for years with my clients. If you have an oral seeker, comment: CHEW and I’ll send you a link to my $15 guide with more strategies PLUS a helpful podcast episode to listen to! I use the brand Too Tartz from Amazon, because it doesn’t have food dye in it. Lemon juice works well too! Did you the more sensitive to sensory input you are, the more you salivate when you’re thinking about taking a bite of a lemon? If you’re a sensory seeker, you likely don’t salivate at all! Crazy… 🤯 Try this out and let me know how it works! #thesensoryproject #sensory #sensoryseeker #pediot #occupationaltherapy"

Idk that link is crazy but point is there lol.
