I had heard that phrase before, but didn’t realize how much the fly over states embraced it until we drove across them last fall, while listening to ‘fly over radio’

I take the phrase as the insult it’s intended to be -our eastern colleagues (in giant corp) seem to always assume we are all rubes.

So I guess that’s what I mean - I’d heard it, never used it because I thought it was an insult, but was surprised that when we were in Kansas it seemed to be embraced by the residents.
