Damn that was a lot harder than I thought it would be

This is nerdy but anyone know why there’s bentonite in wine? Isn’t that a clay? I assumed that was the toothpaste.

Spoilers! So I also thought C was toothpaste. Must be to help sediments fall out or something?

I knew toothpaste because of the first ingredient but the others no clue

Clarifying agent IIRC to get sediments to fall out of solution.

OH sh*t, Summary

Why doesn’t wine have water or ethanol? Seems sketch…

ETA:
In general, the average concentrations of the major components of wine are water, 86%; ethanol, 12%; glycerol and polysaccharides or other trace elements, 1%; different types of acids, 0.5%; and volatile compounds, 0.5%.

Summary

I was wondering about that, because if the toothpaste had water listed as an ingredient then I figured wine and maybe chocolate would too?

I’m glad this sparked a sciencey conversation of picking it apart, I just googled the lists briefly to see if something at all legit came up or if the search result was gibberish. Chemistry was never my strong suit.

I’d like to see a real one! This series is my favorite anti-anti-vaxxer material:

My medicinal chemist husband mixed up wine and vaccine.

Summary

He thought it was very suspect that C didn’t contain alcohol, which is why he assigned them the other way.

So is this “select ingredients” because wine definitely has alcohol.

He also said “epicatechine, procyanin, and tryptophan can be found in some red wines, too. Theobromide should be included in the chocolate, though. Histidine and polysorbate are adjuvants, used to increase the immune response. Some red wines will make your nose feel stuffed up because of histidine”

This garnered my husband telling me too much about wine.
