Incredible…keep doing gods work
a smart thermostat is a lot less meaningful for us now that we’re looking at spending most days during the winter at home. (what counts as ‘smart’? I mean, we tell it to drop temperatures overnight, and heat back the house in the morning when we expect to wake up)
Yep. As someone home all the time with unpredictable short trips away, I find I just use ours manually anyway
Our smart thermostat has outsmarted us. We need to successfully take it over and set the programs and we can’t. Or haven’t devoted hours.
So it’s worse than we want, and we manually adjust until it’s next time, and now we have had it off most of the past few days
When I replaced the thermostat at this house I wanted the dumbest one possible, which wasn’t in stock at local hardware stores. No wifi connectivity was a big, unreasonable ask.
I think ‘smart’ is anything other than the ones that got set with a little lever on the side and stayed at that number until someone changed it. We’re home all the time now too but ours adjusts by itself throughout the day to keep us cooler at night and deal with the increasing heat during the day.
Oh I will say I like it for changing the temp without getting out of bed, or when we’re on our way home from a trip only special feature I use.
Thermostats aren’t really a thing here. So I probably won’t install a smart one. I will probably try to limit aircon use to when solar is humming along. There are smart things that could automate that but seems a bit much.
We have ours programed to auto change the temps to cool for the night and then it pops back up to 78 during the day.
68F is just too damn cold. I’ll freeze if it’s under 73.
It all depends on how I feel. Usually I feel like being half naked even in the dead of winter. Only 70s will do.
But at night when I’m sleeping 68 is king.
73 is our overnight temp. And even that is too cold if the thermonuclear reactors that are my dog and husband aren’t in bed with me.
