You are the champion, no time for losers
Iām so glad your phone didnāt run out of that one!! lol
Okay so this is kind of a second-hand win but I get the benefit and my kid gets the benefit so Iāll take it. Over the summer we sent Kiddo to an OT camp and part of what they did was talk about feelings and what āfills up your bucketā and how some things can drain your bucket.
After our toilet flooded and we had to pull up all the flooring in our primary bedroom while Kiddo was at school, it made it an easy conversational short cut to explain the situation and then say āmommy and daddy have empty buckets today, so we need you to be on your best behavior this afternoon.ā
I have absolutely told my kids this from time to time - not in those words, but yes same message. I really think itās important for kids to hear / see us express our feelings & moods.
Excellent work!
I love this shared language! Sorry about the flood
Thereās a book, in case anyone is interested. And now there are songs and videos and all sorts of content based on the bucket-filling book. Itās good stuff and elementary schools everywhere have incorporated it in their lessons.
Thanks! Iāll have to check that one out. It also feels appropriate for (American) Thanksgiving.
Baby (1) got his RSV shot and (2) I took him to the doctor by myself!
Omg! So jealous you got it so happy for you though.
Itās so cool and amazing that the RSV shot exists now!!!
We just made it, cut off at my clinic is under 2 months! Which I know is more loosey goosey than plenty of other places.
I have a theory that itās relatively easier to get vaccines in CO because of the combo of functional state gov that believes in vaccines, but a population with enough vaccine skeptics that there is less competition than other blue states have. But who knows, this is based on no evidence.
Weāre under 2 months, thereās just none here whatsoever. The state has frozen any ordering and my clinic has none.
Are the rsv shots available for regular adults? My (over 65) dad just got his, he spends time with two little kids, one of whom has CF.
I probably wonāt get the rsv shot even if I could because Iām never around babies or elderly, but Iām just curious.
I hate it! Sorry.
So two different things here- tiny babies get an antibody shot. Pregnant women and older people get a true vaccine. (End product versus code to make end product yourself). Sub 65, no shot. I missed the pregnant lady shot by a couple weeks since they hadnāt even heard about the approval (grrrr) and then now we canāt get the antibodies for the baby herself.
Anecdotally around here even after it was approved none of the pregnant folks I know were able to get it due to supply issues. They were told their babies should be able to get the antibody shot directly but thatās not available for healthy full-term babies either. (I mean, rightfully it should go to the highest risk babies but Iām upset about the whole supply chain)
The cutoff is 6 months at my pediatrician. I didnāt realize that was so high relative to CO. They wanted to offer it up to 8 months but apparently couldnāt purchase enough supply. We are a pretty vaccine-compliant state and city so I imagine the reason they even got six monthsā worth is proximity to pharma industry?
I took two kids to the dentist at the same time, I gave them 4h outside including the before bed outside and overall am amazing.
