My garden plan for the space!

Remove tire mulch and weed fabric everywhere.

Perennial slope 250sqft:

  • Get woodchips from the municipal pile
  • Put on the 250 sqft this will be going, maybe get extra for the walkway and plan to rock that in later.
  • get on list for garden in a box and plant in the spring

Garden bed 170 sqft:

  • line with logs (dig slight trench so they don’t roll)
  • Add soil amendments recommended by test
  • Broadfork area
  • cardboard
  • 3" of 50/50 goat poop and compost
  • 3-4" of shredded leaves

I love it! So much new habitat and food production, plus flowers and kid education! I’m glad the test results were not bad.

I’ve spent a lot of money on flower seeds in the past couple of weeks. Even including a fair amount for shipping which for some reason I hate paying for lol. But if I want certain special items I just have to suck it up and pay for them since everyone has different items that I want. Fingers crossed it’s all gorgeous next year!

That reminds me. I bought a bunch of daffodil bulbs and dahlia tubers. I think I spent about $200 on each. Whoops! Worth it hopefully!

Ha. That makes me feel better! (I will still order a few dahlias but I’m really running out of space)

Where’d you get the dahlias from?

I got them from Swan Island. I live really close and have been to their farm. No idea if they are the highest quality or whatever but I like that they are local to me.

I’ve heard good things about them! I’m pretty sure @zinnia buys from them.

Hubby checked another website. It said 6 C. We’re covering everything and hoping for the best.

Soo it finally happened. I got an email from the community garden asking me to please tame the weeds (mostly insane grasses) growing between my plot and a neighbor’s plot.

It makes me feel a little better that the neighbor got the same email so it’s not just my fault alone.

I went over there today with the weed wacker but I’ll also have to do some pulling by hand and some mulching and maybe some cardboarding. I can only work in like 30-minute increments because of course my 3-year-old assistant is with me.
