I find I disagree with the judge on one thing, “the husband “testified with some pride” at being designated a “gifted” student in school, and had “made it clear that he rates his own intellectual abilities to be far above average” – something the judge found could help him find a job, if he sought one.”
People who rate their intellectual abilities as far above average tend not to interview well for new jobs (especially for older workers) because their disdain for the interviewer and the interviewing process tend to leak through. But I agree the former spouse shouldn’t be forced to support someone for that particular gap of employability.
Reading between the lines, the judge found the guy insufferable and took him at his word that he was a special boy, to his detriment.
