My cousin does this with her dog. During the pandemic and WFH, her dog got used to being on her lap (even though the dog was a little too big to do this but there was no convincing her that she wouldn’t fit 
). Wearing the sling helped keep the dog contained and then my cousin also didn’t get dog nails in her leg when the pup started sliding off. Now the dog just likes being carried around the house but the dog is also elderly so gets treated like a princess.
