Jessica Kellgren-Fozard did an update on how she’s using sign language with her toddler and mentioned that he’s picked up on the fact that she’s deaf so he makes a point of letting her know when there’s a loud noise going on that she might not be aware of. (Timestamped to that bit of the video.)

A google search says you are correct! I was duped! 
so just close one eye and tilt your head and it might look real! But it’s an awfully cute plushy.
