A not really but kinda related story:
one of my all time favorite people at my work used to do the evening environmental services shift - he looked out for me and my bff and we always chatted w him and were SO sad when their department reallocated people. He’s now a nurse on the floor and has been interviewed by various TV outlets due to his willingness to share his life and build bridges between his community and western medicine and I freaking start crying every time his face scrolls on our internal monitors because he’s the best and I’m so happy his message is so widely received.
Also once my old manager that I didn’t care for started this thing where we had to tell her someone we wanted to shout out for exemplifying our core values 
and then she would send them a card 
and it was the fakest dumbest thing ever, but he was the first person I thought of to recommended him. She stared at me for no joke like 3 minutes trying to work out #1 how to spell his name and #2 actually said the words to me “but he’s not a nurse” at which point I said “but I’m not a nurse” 
and then went on to lecture her… It’s for some reason never got me fired because I was in a higher position than her at a previous job in a totally different field and so she always tried to butter me up 
There are many good reasons why she is no longer a manager LOL
Okay so that last part wasn’t really feel good as much as feel vindicated LOL
But I’ll just say there’s a nurse in Minnesota who’s on his way to becoming a nurse practitioner specifically to serve a community that is vastly underserved and misunderstood in our area and he started out washing our floors when he was 17 as a lottery winner in a refugee program and worked nights at McDonald’s so that his younger sister didn’t have to have a job and made her finish high school and he’s the freaking best and whenever I see any story like his it makes me so warm and fuzzy inside and thinks of all the things I’ve learned about my greater City community solely because of him
