I did another pile and now Ponder has drawers for his own stuff

More documents reviewed and decluttering. I am over 700 items decluttering so far this year. So much more to do though.

Today I got rid of some skincare stuff and a Halloween decoration!

Today I got rid of: an old throw pillow that the cats used to lie on but now ignore, and a pair of sandals whose ankle strap is nearly worn through. Baby steps.

I’ve ditched cleaning stuff we’ll never use.

Today I got rid of: the huge Mac tower!! A friend offered to drop it off for computer recycling today.

Also: 5 pairs of old eyeglasses and a big bottle of craft glue.

And an empty photo album is going into a Little Free Library on my way out today.

I am going through our linen closet, and realised we haven’t used our gas heater in the 3 years we’ve been here. I’m going to check in with Ponder because maybe we’ll need it if we move into a rental while our house is renovated, but otherwise I’m feeling like we could make it through 1 winter OK.

Donated a bag of books to the bookstore.

My customer wants the 5 books I quoted him, so those will go out this week as well.

Hurrah!

This will be 5 books and a mailer/tape/maybe bubblewrap. Less stuff all around.

I responded to a request on Buy Nothing and passed on a few pieces of maternity clothing.

Lots of us seem to donate things to individuals or charities, that’s great!

I have a suggestion as a former retailer: ask your local antique, used bookstore, etc. if they need boxes, bubble wrap, or plastic bags. Frequently, they’ll be happy to reuse what you have.

Has anyone watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo? I’ve been watching it today and now I want to sort through everything even though I don’t have a lot of stuff! I could probably go through bathroom things at least!

I find this a really good way to get rid of stuff I don’t need, but also didn’t really plan to get rid of. When I see someone else wants it, it’s easier for me to part with it, because I feel helpful.

Sadly, our BNP doesn’t get many requests, and the ones that are there rarely get fulfilled. Mostly people tell you where to go buy it, as if they think the people asking just didn’t think to look at Kohls.

I wish trading used goods was more normal, beyond kids clothes.

Ooh I have a friend who sells from her home office who might like all the packaging I collect! That is, this is great advice!

I have and I really enjoyed the mix of families they had on it! I like to re-watch whenever I want a bit of motivation too.

I was so arrogant when I was younger, like a couple of hours ago younger  all ā€œI don’t have a lot of stuff! I’ll just declutter for fun! I’m not like those people with clutter.ā€

I just threw out an entire garbage bag. A full sized garbage bag.

Ha :joy: if it helps, I was like ā€œthere’s nothing big we can get rid of!!!ā€ And then while going through my linen closet realised we have an entire gas heater stashed in there that we haven’t used since moving into this house. Whoops.

Haha, right? I think watching the organization show confused my brain because people on that have SO MUCH stuff that it makes me feel practically ascetic by comparison. We’re also really neat so it’s not like, piles of boxes and visible stuff, but wow did I have a lot of useless things in neat little rows under my bathroom sinks  I had FOUR BOTTLES of unopened expired OTC pain meds. I also had a bunch of cold medicine, like 3 bottles? IDK what I was preparing for, lol.

Decluttering the bathroom I found enough dilauded and loratab to start a drug ring. Apparently, the hospital hands it out like candy. I had at least 9 prescription bottles full of them, because it keeps getting prescribed, but then I don’t take them…

Walgreens accepts opened and unopened OTC meds and prescriptions at many locations. You can look online to find the nearest safe disposal unit. I found it really handy when I cleaned out my bathroom cabinet.
