That looks very satisfying.
8 bins gone. the 2 frying pans set for pickup this morning.
Iām starting to feel the dread of the more difficult things coming up. The things that are small and not really worth anyone picking up and either will just be thrown out or āno need to make a decisionā, the things that are bigger and actual garbage and whether the truck will actually take them
I wish it wasnāt just me who has to have the energy to get it done, but Iām the one who cares, and for the most part, the difficult stuff is mine. the shadowy one just likes to keep all the boxes and cords.
I found the remote for the ceiling fan, so now I can post it (aka dust it off, bring it upstairs to a nicer background, take photos, write up a blurb, deal with randos)
We (ulp!) signed for the garage today. OMG! On one hand, Iām delighted, it will be real storage and an extra actual building to house things, instead of a shredding ShelterLogic, a falling-down, skunk under the floor 35 yo shed, a full woodshed and porch where everything gets soaked.
For decades I have said (inaccurately) that we have no basement (crawl space, dirt/damp floor), attic (one room, unheated, mousy in winter ā they love it), or garage. This is the only house weāve ever owned without a garage. And weāve been here the longest.
ceiling fan is posted!
Iām being optimistic, and Iāll wait to bring it back to the basement tomorrow. Hopefully it can just go out to the porch and not need to be stored any longer.
the shadowy one was not so optimistic, so carried the fan downstairs last night.
And someone asked for it it as we were sleeping, so Iāve carried it back up the stairs. Fingers crossed she doesnāt flake.
ceiling fan is gone
I have posted a candle holder set that was bought for the space we lived in 2005 and has stayed basically in a box under the stairs ever since we moved here.
candle holder tray is out.
there is some religious holiday stuff which I think Iāll wait to list until late november. now we are reaching the āopening boxesā and ādealing with dusty shelvesā part. Perhaps the shadowy one could be willing to part with an old suitcase? Perhaps I will find the strength to rehome the old Hoover (or ask if the repair shop an hour walk away wants it, if only for parts?)
11 magazines sent to customer. Remainder of the box to the comic book store, like 30 ?
another 5 bins spoken for. Is weird, because there was no interest when I posted them a few weeks ago, and now I have multiple people as backups within 2 hours of putting them on the local groups.
Is it because I took pictures in natural light on a wood floor instead of a dusty basement with dirty tiles? Or because, as the shadowy one noted, it is moving season and people are thinking about switching over summer things to fall? or just the vagaries of algorithms?
I have at least one more set of bins Iād like to get out of the house, but one of them still has things in it. So I need to take the things out, decide what goes back to storage and what gets displayed.
Goal for today or possibly tomorrow: declutter between 5 and 10 jewelry items. Jewelry is hard!
Had to move the āchina cabinetā I use to house cookbooks in the dining room. Put 2 books in the bookstore box. There will be more, but right now thatās it.
Itās also a dump day and farm day, so busy!
I have 7 more magazines for the comic book store as well.
Car donation scheduled. Yard equipment going 2 days later. Wowza!!! ![]()
2 romances set aside for the nursing home.
Replaced rusty rings/lids on mason jars (8), had 4 more new sets which went into the tin where theyāre stored. One package gone, equipment updated. Win!
A nice person with a relatable story (needs tubs for book storage during a reno) prompted me to open that final bin that I thought was full of art.
It was empty. Embarrassing.
Anyways, that means the final 3 bins that weād been planning on getting out of the house are claimed. (we have a bunch of much better heavy duty bins that all fit into each other, rather than the 4 slightly different types of more flimsy ones that I just gave away)
I tossed out 5 really crappy parade throws. Why do I have these? They are too crappy to even repurpose!
Got all the group scribal supplies back to the medieval group. AAAHHHH space!!!
Wooooh space!
Today I will take the three bags of ill fitting clothing to the thrift store and never think about them again
Took down the FBMP listing for my girlfriend collective set. Iām going to give it to SIL and if one or both pieces donāt fit her she has a lot of friends and Iām sure someone will take it off of her hands. That will get it off of my dresser! One more thing to never think about again!
The bags made it into the car. Idk if Iāll get them to the thrift today but they are out of the house soā¦soon
I went through the random basket of samples and hair things and creams and old makeup in the bathroom and threw away eye makeup that was over a year old, sample packets which seemed to be on the verge of delaminating from their foil, a few old almost done things which I have no interest in, and probably other things I have forgotten already.
I need to do a better job at using samples and not taking more, or buying things anticipating I will start being a person who takes care of their skin if I only purchased the right stuff.
