I can do your friday morning/ probably my friday evening on the forum discord.
Hi! Okay, downloaded Discord. Does anyone know how to get on the Forum Discord? Do I need an invite?
Iāll pm you.
Edit, if anyone else wants it too just let me know.
Thanks to a session with @MeadowLark on Discord, my Kitchen Corner of Bullshit now looks like this:
Usually itās piled high with random food items and crap. Instead, things are now in cabinets or, in a few cases, tossed. Now I feel better about having people in my house tomorrow.
Also working on the office finally. The goal is to get everything into the closet and then sort the closet one shelf at a time.
I got to see the cutest baby in the world!
She worked so hard on her tummy time while I worked on the corner!
Obs was not able to attend this but would love a discord invite!
Iāve been working on a slow decluttering processes. Things arenāt too out of control, but theyāre kind of in the stage where one hectic week would cause a spillover, and I feel like if I make a moderate amount more headway Iāll get my house to the point it can sustain a chaotic week or so without everything falling apart.
Last night I tackled my sock and underwear drawer, threw out some holey guys Iāve been holding onto WAY too long as well as some gloves that have been partnerless for about two years and some wonky underwear Iām never reaching for again. I have a number of sports bras Iām not sure I completely love, but theyāre in good condition so Iām holding onto them for a while to see. Sometimes after an organizing spell where I remember I have things I forgot about I start reaching for them. And some of these are longline bra/crop top adjacent and I may actually wear them in the summer.
I started the year with the minimalists challenge of 1 thing on day 1 and 2 things on day 2, etc. I lost some steam for counting things I got rid of but the vibes stayed! Iāve been slowly tackling one area of the house at a time and itās finally feeling like my efforts are making a difference.
Doing decluttering one closet, one drawer, one shelf, one box at a time has worked really well for me! It usually takes less than 15 minutes. Iāve been using the time it takes to steep my tea in the evening to try and reset the kitchen/declutter. Last night I went through the decorative towel drawer and got rid of everything with stains.
I hate that Iām already getting rid of gifts from Christmas, but some folks got us things we will never use and didnāt ask for!
I got rid of seven shirts I donāt wear anymore. Either they donāt fit or are just too worn.
āWall of boxesā is up in the dining room, the first one. 13 boxes of sorted books, 5 small boxes of papers, 2 boxes of other stuff, 5 stacks against the wall under the window.
First wall done!
What I came up with: sort/rebox the remaining books/papers/stuff. Put the boxes away⦠neatly. The idea is that I will pull one box, deal with it entirely, then refill the box with something else that contributes to the clutter/mess. If I can pull this off? It will give me a tidy home, where I can āseeā the progress, NOT get rid of everything in one shot, triggering the PTSD panic attack, but will also allow me to āfeel/seeā the progress from culling things for 20 years!
When I counted things out (which I did for 3 years) I came up with categories/descriptions of what I counted/why. I can post the write up if anyone is interested?
Woohoo! Stacking boxes neatly so you have living/working space and dealing with one box at a time sounds like a GREAT strategy. And posting your count and updating it seems like a good way to share progress. I hope you are able to feel good about what you are accomplishing and donāt trigger any PTSD. Congrats on your accomplishments so far!
Iām interested!
Your box plan seems like a good one.
My next place to tackle is the office.
Step 1: Get main area clear and fully usable.
Step 2: Deal with the closet one shelf at a time.
I"ll put it on my regular journal.
I spent much of the week doing a closet clean out. Who knew I owned EIGHTY-SEVEN dresses? Not me! And I donāt anymore!
Here are 150+ items of clothing headed to the upcoming community clothing swap:
Victories: I have space to put all my clean laundry away and most of my dresser drawers close without shoving.
Wow! Great job!
I donāt think I have owned 87 dresses my whole life (not a fan) - but I have definitely (and still do) own way too many of other clothing items. Like tee shirts. I purged a bunch sfter retiring, but there is still too many.
Thatās amazing! Iām sure it feels so nice to have the extra space!
Iām agog. I donāt even think of you as a dress person. Thatās a lot of dresses, maāam.
In summer Iām all dress all the time
