Those are all very understandable feelings.
I was thinking about you today.
My hospital is still scheduling elective procedures.
A friend that works in an outpatient surgery center says they too are still scheduling procedures and will only cancel if staff end up ill with potential risk to patient care.
There are two things I really want to be able to happen during this, meaning, happen without the pandemic affecting them one bit, and your surgery is one of them.
Yeah so I just outed myself that I’m totes emotionally invested in your torso
AHAH
Fingers crossed that your surgery can go forward as planned🤞
I’m optimistic that elective procedures will continue as scheduled as long as we contain our regions to mostly travel-related cases. I like the proactive measures taken by a lot of orgs so far and my state at least is on track for being able to maintain normal healthcare services with minor supply disruptions
That is really reassuring, @katscratch thank you. I know it’s all very “moving target” though. It looks like currently WI has more cases than MN by a couple at least. Well. “Official” cases. As we all know, it’s as to how far spread this currently is in reality.
A thing that might also be in my personal favor is that my surgery will be done at a surgery center, not a hospital proper.
Also:
39 days
(for real this time. I was off count before LOL)
Currently just hoping Partner did not pick anything up in her travels to NYC and through Chicago.
<3 <3 <3 Sending wishes for safe and timely removal of your mammary glands.
I just saw this shared on Instagram and wanted to make sure everyone who needs it had access to this advice!
CW: COVID-19 advice for people who wear binders
This is a great resource, thank you for sharing!
Today I walked outside. That was a good decision.
38 days.
Is your calendar fully loaded?
I’m set for the next 10 days ! And some local friends have things they haven’t dropped off yet, too.
So not fully loaded, but that’s okay.
I am attempting to mentally prepare for postponement, which feels (I say feels because I have no actual information and really, no one else does either) more and more inevitable.
It is not easy. But it is also entirely out of my control.
If that does happen, you might be able to pick the date right now and be able to pick a date of your choosing (a few months out).
OR, and I don’t know how this would impact your work etc, you might ask about moving the surgery date UP, to the end of this week. We have a lot of families that are electing to postpone, so we are moving up some of our other patients in the schedule. If you’re going to end up stuck at home anyway, you might as well be recovering from surgery
I’m sure it’s a lot of wait and see state by state right now but I know Minnesota is starting to talk about preemptively cancelling things just to make sure we aren’t using supplies that might be needed later.
If it is postponed, you waiting, as hard as that will be to do, will 100% directly result in someone’s life being saved.
I called my surgeon’s office yesterday.
As of right now my surgery is not postponed, however they are beginning to postpone surgeries that are upcoming. It’s 100% a “day by day” situation.
I am still prepping your care package, keeping in mind that the countdown may be extended D:
Today my binder is tight and uncomfortable, and I am also tight and uncomfortable.
This pales in comparison to other’s fears and frustrations but it is really real to me in this moment.
It doesn’t help that your binder being tight and uncomfortable is in addition to your other disruptions and concerns in your life right now.
