Hopefully the author will feel a bit more space to fall back in love with the characters now that he can switch between series
I think this is a spoiler for the very end of book 4 - wrt book 5 I think the absence of one character was more felt than I expected

Ok, so I’m trying to read TJ Klune’s Somewhere Beyond the Sea and finding I just can’t handle the section in chapter five where
Summary
Arthur is testifying on camera in front of the five bureaucrats
I don’t think this is a problem with the book or the writing but a reflection of my own anxiety/ trauma thanks to the way the world is now. Could some kind soul tell me how it goes (behind a cut for spoilers) so maybe I can read the rest of the book?

It’s been a while since I read it. I seem to have given it 3.75 stars. I described the epilogue as “sweet” but overly long.
I remember the ending being happy and nothing lastingly terrible happening, although of course there’s a stressful part with an invasive investigator. And they go in a rather separatist, magical, wish-fulfillment shut-out-the-world direction IIRC.

Oh I just finished this book, and it was… A ride.

I have been dnfing so many books, but I just finished Sarah Gailey’s Make Me Better which is a horror novel, where the protagonist, who has just left yet another MLM, is dealing with the grief of another pregnancy loss, and decides to go to an island wellness retreat, where she believes they can help make her better.
It’s mostly inference in the horror sections, and it’s primarily psychological about high control cults, but if you are feeling sensitive about child loss, give this one a miss.

just finished There Is No Antimemetics Division after seeing it recommended multiple times on reddit. it is a shorter book, under 300 pages, but still I think it’s meaningful that I inhaled within 12 hours of cracking open the spine.
I did not actually crack the spine, of course, it is a library book.
Some strong Dr Who ‘The Silence’ vibes for the antagonist, but that is not a complaint or criticism. It does not feel derivative.
