I just finished my September accounting and I’m adding some goals on beyond “track and understand”: close some extraneous accounts.

So I’m going to try to come in at under $100/day all in for this road trip, which will take most of the month

I’m in! I’m using YNAB to budget every dollar but I’m just hoping to spend less money on groceries and restaurants. And reduce needless spending cause I just spent a ton of money on closing costs.

I’m trying to get back in the habit of tracking all of my household’s expenses this month, but especially groceries - we just switched to a different grocery store and I want to see if it’s actually cheaper.

I’m in!

I’ve been using YNAB for almost a year now but want to do a budget overhaul. Goal is to make $750 from my Rover business to help pay for rent.

October 4

Groceries: $800 / $800 remaining
Restaurant: $600 / $564.73 remaining

I do need to pick up some groceries at some point. Probably on Friday after I get paid.

I’m in! I’d like to cut down on unnecessary spending by keeping an eye on my purchases by logging all my receipts.

I’m in! Sorry for being a couple of days late. I use YNAB and I’ve been loving it. I just got caught up on covering late September’s overspending, and just budgeted out for the first half of October. Watching the latest live youtube video as I plan out my October bills vs paychecks in my paper planner calendar.

I recently started a new job with a significant increase in income for me. Leaving the office and going out for lunch everyday is a slippery slope for me. I’ve got to rein it in and start packing lunches. I’m terrified that I will fall for lifestyle creep again, so I’m going to use this Budgetober challenge to slow myself down, get caught up on my bills, watch my “dining out” category and mindfully build the habit to stay below my means.

*I do love a good pumpkin muffin during this halloween season.

Is it cheating if I only stay under budget because I was given a gift card?

Hmmm what are your goals? If that supports your goals with Budgetober, possibly

Hmm, my goal is just to stay within my budget categories. It isn’t necessarily to avoid purchases.

If you consciously spent a little more bc you had the gift card, that’s fine. If you spent the bare minimum and still needed the gift card to stay under budget then maybe not.

Interesting perspective! This was our first coffee shop trip of the month and I think we might have spent a little less without the gift card, but I’m not sure. We’ll see as we get closer to the end of the month how far we get in the budget.

Checking in for week one a bit early, but it will be lackluster because Things Happened this week.

On Budget: Groceries and all other categories
Off Budget: $1,600 in vet bills for the princess :crying_cat_face::crown:

You can check in anytime between now and Monday. Feel free to write out your expenses for the week in detail or simply reflect on how your financial week went.
