BINGO 2025

My update so far:

Project #1 was a wedding gift for my nephew and his wife. They will pick it up mid February.

The next project is half finished and just needs some edges finished. It consists of 6 small wallhangings. I’m exploring edge finishes with them.

I am still working on the visual journal. Had to wait to get to the store to buy printer ink to print photos.

I decided to watch “Birding in NA” because it’s a shorter course than the other one I have on the planets. Right now I’m after quick finishes to encourage me to keep going.

Turns out “Field Guide to the Planets” is also 24 lectures long. It will be watched next. I’m going to update my card with pages to read and lectures to watch, so I can keep track.

My bookmark for “The Fabric of Civilization” fell out of the book. As I started it some time ago, I am going to restart it when the time comes. I changed it from yellow (started) to white (not started).

I also discovered I have already started “In Pursuit of Color”, which also had the wrong title in my original card.

I don’t know if this constitutes a remake of my card, but it is in keeping with my original intention.

Here’s the updated card:

Ok finally came up with mine. I was too ambitious with mine last year, even the really fun ones like try 12 different flavors of soft serve at the neighborhood ice cream stand which sounds amazing but would have required 12 trips where I tried something new and sometimes I just want my goto twist cone. And 12 trips for ice cream is a lot. Haha. So trying to be smaller scale, but that took more thinking somehow. Also, trying it in categories this year.

Well, that was short lived. I failed miserably and spectacularly with my “No Spend January”. I purchased some items stateside before things happen. Otherwise things are going fine.

Finally got my bingo put together! And of course did my free square, which was petting the cat.

At the moment at least I’m too lazy to X it out. I will probably return back later to attend to it. (But also thank you)

I drove the two roads here, Plomosa and Dome Rock, and made bread. The driving was motivated by wanting to check something off.

Tell me about the grammar book! (I’m a linguist by training and I specialized in syntax.)

It’s learning grammar using diagramming sentences. Somehow I missed grammar in school (private to public school moves and just “luck”… also somehow missed world history?).

Anyway, I’ve done editing for money and it is annoying when someone asks me why x or y is wrong or I changed it and I can’t defend it. The idea of using sentence diagramming to analyse English and therefore have solid REASONS why x or y was correct appealed.

Then, after years of wishing for such a thing, I found the book below. I have the first edition.

I’m doing my final January post.

I had to revise my BINGO card. Apparently the Wild Wonder conference isn’t going to be held virtually this year. The organizers have opted to train educators in real life adventures stateside. As I’m unlikely to go stateside anytime soon due to our low dollar, I’ve removed Wild Wonder from my BINGO card. I’ve replaced it with another project I need to finish.

I’ve also added a word or two to keep my projects straight. I caught myself confusing them.

So here’s the revised BINGO card.

What if you change No Spend Jan to any No Spend month? Give yourself 11 more chances (or maybe like 4 since we all have months we know spending will happen).

Good idea. I reviewed “the rules” and it appears this is acceptable. Because I certainly was not expecting tariffs when we started preparing in early December. I figured it was all bluster. I’ll post a revised BINGO card below.

I hope it’s a fun read! It would be for me haha.

Um no, but that’s the reason I bought it, right? It isn’t NOT fun – it takes work, or some parts of it do. I just don’t think that way naturally. I’m a writer who’s all about the tone and emotional impact and nuance of meaning, the structure behind the sentence construction seems both magical and mysterious to me – always has.

RE THIS?
16. Unfinished project: curtains/blinds throughout the house.

DH just installed the first of the new blinds permanently. We have 1 other we put up as a sample to try and see if we wanted what we’d bought, but it’s temporary as DH hadn’t done the new trim yet. The first of 7 upstairs is done!
