We have a lot of school locations as well as a lot of township hall locations. I’ve never heard of our churches being voting locations.
Why Do Such Elderly People Run America?
Sanders is too old. So is Biden. Trump too.

I’ve lived in a few places in West Michigan that use churches as voting places. I’m not a huge fan of that but we do have a lot of churches that often sit empty during the day otherwise, have plenty of parking, etc.
If I did want to read election coverage at a non-paywalled and also non-covered in annoying ads site, would NPR be the best option? Or something else?
Umm, how do you want them to pay the reporters if you don’t want ads but you don’t want paywalls?
I go for:
Theguardian Live blog (ads but no paywall, Non us, left bias)
NYtimes (10 free articles, left bias)
NPR (no ads, no paywall but NPR left bias)
Al Jazeera (left Bias, ads, no paywall)
The economist (paywall, non us, right leaning)
https://www.cbc.ca/news/ is running election coverage this evening. No ads, no paywall, taxpayer funded news.
I don’t mind ads but some sites have incredibly annoying levels of them. That’s what I meant
Obviously Australian leaning (and a bit leftist but nothing sinister) but our national broadcaster does a decent live blog
They do seem to let the younger journalists run it so expect gifs.
I am actually trying to justify a sub to The Economist right now! Have really liked what I’ve read and it’s one of the only non-deranged right of center outlets I have found. I think they capture what I still like about certain conservative/free trade values with very little of what I’ve done to loathe in conservativism as a whole.
I love the economist. I’m extremely lucky I get a subscription through work. I used to pay for it, but as a student when it was subsidized.
They do some of the best human rights reporting. And I like their take on US politics. And if you get the print edition you get to read job listings for jobs that require fluency in 3 languages, a top 5 MBA, and 10 years experience managing a budget the size of the GDP of a small country.
Well I’m sold.
A precinct based at the University of Central Florida has reported over 100% turnout due to people updating their addresses and being reassigned to the polling place after registration deadline.
The kids are alright.
Oh gosh they do have a lot of gifs. Looking forward to Anthony Green’s comments and predictions as those are passed across.
I’m ignoring the fact that it’s Election Day. The tv is off, I am on the couch with a book. I will check the results in the morning even though I’m pretty sure everything won’t be tallied for a while.
An interesting article on why all the top U.S. politicians are so goddamn old.
Sanders is too old. So is Biden. Trump too.
It’s a paywall, but you get 3 free articles.
I wish I could be strong like you. But I just can’t stay away.
It’s really the only way I’m going to get any sleep tonight too lol
I’m on the west coast so we usually know before bedtime.
Interestingly, CNN appears to be using a more conservative approach to calling counties than Fox News.
Both websites have cool interactive country, state, and county maps. Though, I like CNN’s approach of having two views - one with their predictions, and the second only using counties/states that have closed their ballots.
FL is at 89% votes counted, and T/P are up by > 2 points, so currently no recount.
I can’t look away, so I’ve decided I’m just going to dig in and watch as much as I want. This is the first election I’ve ever really spent the time to watch, and definitely the one I’ve cared the most about. In 2016 I never imagined we would have the result we did, so I honestly checked out after voting early for Hillary.
