laughs in arthritis signature
Weird. My signature is like doctor scrawl. You can barely even discern letters.
That’s what mine is. But it is remarkably consistent. I scrawl the same lines every time.
But they wouldn’t accept it.
It’s one check – there’s a lot of safeguards going on in voting processes.
For what it’s worth, re the randos with god complexes, election observers are a Serious Thing and ballot counts definitely have observers present (there’s a nice Thought Co article here). In my jurisdiction, at least, the people who are counting ballots are also county employees and not total randos.
If you’re genuinely paranoid about it, then vote in person – that option should be open to you! I feel fine about dropping off my mail-in ballot, personally, and have done VBM for many years now.
Friends are reporting that their mail in ballots are showing as counted. I don’t think my county counts votes prior to election day normally, I’m so glad they’re starting to count already.
This is going to be a long wait for results I think, even if there’s no contested results.
Our ballots are accepted. BIL had his disqualified over the signature, but he was able to correct it with an affidavit.
Mine has been accepted. I wasn’t worried about the signature, but only because I changed my name two years ago so I actually clearly remembered that I signed without my middle name when I registered. I was worried about [Trump interfering with] the mail, so I dropped it off at city hall.
I have a “doctor’s signature”, it’s mostly scrawls, but its consistent scrawls. My state looks at voter signatures based on DMV records. When I moved to this county, I updated my voted registration, drivers license, etc online. The first time I went to vote after moving (2014), I was sent a postcard stating an inconsistency in my signature (I was also voting in the extreme opposition to the majority here, though I’m sure that y signature issue was just a coincidence). I believe I needed to respond to the card and do something online and a few days later my ballot was registered as Accepted. I’ve had no issues since then. Of course, I live in a state that requires ballots to be post marked by election day and they don’t finalize the results for about 2 weeks.
A DARK humor what-if scenario
Bold question. In certain parts, it’s somewhat like asking if anyone enjoys drinking the blood of a freshly sacrificed family pet.
I like it. Being nice doesn’t mean leaving the rabble totally unroused.
I have turned in my ballot, and while I did not vote for Trump, I did not vote for Biden.
This was one of my first thoughts after hearing about Trump’s Covid diagnosis.
Yes, but this version of it is wonderfully convoluted yet somehow completely possible!
81 million people have voted already!
I just saw a news headline about officials heading to Florida to get votes. And I have no idea if the old white guy pictured is Biden or Trump.
Procedure based question, can you vote for that nice Kamala Harris without voting for Mr. Biden? Like is it two checkboxes or one?
Our provincial and federal elections you can only vote for one person, the one you want running your riding, and I don’t think we have vice ministers. If we do, they don’t seem important.
I worry about people who have those politics being bullied here. Hopefully they wouldn’t be!
It’s one check box, which read Biden/Harris. POTUS and VPOTUS are a package deal.
Though…to see Ol’ Boy and Harris in the White House together. That would be something.
This happened in 1796 but can’t happen anymore. I think for a while after the 12th Amendment passed in 1804 it became less likely but was still possible. I am not sure if it’s still possible because, like Jack notes we elect on the same ticket, but there might be some bizarre situation like that Pence article I posted yesterday where it could still happen.
I like how people are pretending like all this will be over next Tuesday.
We KNOW we won’t know the results tuesday night.
And if anyone thinks it won’t end in a court battle, they will be fooling themselves.
I hope it’s all sorted by the inauguration.
