It’s gonna be a yikes for me.
That was my feeling too, but not my country so I don’t really feel I can say much about it. That’s why I’m asking all you lovely folks. I also don’t know much about her other than the couple of articles that were presented in the news as a bad secret.
Yes. This. If you are curious re: her personal beliefs google “People of Praise” which is the specific brand of fundamental christianity that she is a part of. Some of the beliefs include men being the “head” of the house, and the woman submitting to his decisions, women not being allowed to be spiritual leaders, and single women not being allowed to live alone. Traditional gender roles are to be followed, etc etc.
All I’ll say about it is that adopting Black children does not absolve a person of racism.
For those who would like something to follow along with, Glennon Doyle is doing “40 days from outrage to action” on Instagram and it seems quite useful if you aren’t already involved and don’t have a plan of your own (or some one else’s) to follow.
I haven’t followed her on social media but just want to chime in that “Untamed” is an awesome book. My therapist read it before me and told me the whole time she was like “[Rabbitarian] needs to read this!”
If you ignore it, it doesn’t exist, right?
I feel like we should just live… well, not live-tweet as this isn’t Twitter, but live… comment? on tomorrow’s debate here. Yes, I am going to watch. Is that a good idea? I have no clue. I do have tequila though…
Do I need to buy alcohol tomorrow in order to watch the debate? I mean… it can’t be any worse than the news every day for like the last 6 months, can it?
I don’t know, but I really want to subscribe to stream the Hearty Fall Soup Channel.
I might watch the debate but I’ll definitely want to drink if I do and not sure my liver can handle that much booze
Same
I’ve thought about this a lot. So many people like to fixate on “the one moment” when everyone knows everything has gone to shit. But we’re all frogs in the pot. Unless we’ve jumped from the pot into the fire.
This reminds me of a comment by a work colleague probably 15 years ago. He was born in Europe and had lived all over the world.
He was frustrated about something he was trying to get done, and asking himself what it felt like. It feels like being in a third world country.
I think of that comment often especially in 2020.
Alright I am settled in for whatever this is
They both look bad. Why did you guys choose Biden? Siiiigh.
I didn’t.
They need to change the way of running these debates now. Trump is just steamrolling over Biden and the moderator by refusing to stop talking at any point. Can they cut his microphone?
