24 in 2024 Challenge: Save $20,240

Q3 obviously doesn’t end for a few more weeks and I only get the Boy’s pay info quarterly. But I thought it would be a good exercise to do a check in using estimated numbers- there’s not a huge amount of variation in his paycheck savings.

As of the end of August, we are at $7830 saved. Adding back in the savings that went to the heat pump puts us at $17,492. We are on track for my base goal!

We will NOT be meeting the stretch goal (saving $20,240 without adding the heat pump back in). My mom is giving us some $$ to put in the children’s 529 plans but that doesn’t feel like “my” savings so my instinct is not to count it.

Next year I will need to drop down to a lower savings category because my health insurance premiums are skyrocketing for capitalism reasons.
